Auger drive hitches

Which hitch does your auger drive need?

Your drive needs a hitch or frame to suit your machine. Here's what each one is for, and what we need from you to get it right.

1. The hitch is part of the drive's code

Every Digga drive can be ordered bare, with no frame, or with a hitch or frame to suit your machine. The hitch changes the order code, so you pick it on the drive's page under Hitch. Our drive prices start from the bare drive, and go up with the hitch you choose.

2. Pick by machine

Machine Choose on the drive page Code ends in
Mini and micro excavators Single pin hitch -SP
Excavators Double pin hitch -EM
Excavators and backhoes Cradle hitch -EMC
Excavators and backhoes Swing control hitch -SCS
Skid steer loaders Multifit fixed centre -MF
Skid steer loaders Side shift -FR
Tractors Slide frame (tractor) -AG
Telehandlers Standard frame (telehandler) -TH
Truck cranes Truck crane single pin -CT

Not every drive offers every hitch. The drive's page only lists the ones it comes with.

3. Excavator hitches: which one?

  • Single pin: a light, compact hitch built for micro and mini excavators up to 3 t, for general augering in standard ground.
  • Double pin: suits any excavator, with or without a quick hitch. Choose loose pin, or fixed pin for a hydraulic quick hitch. Good in all ground and for screw anchoring.
  • Cradle: a double pin hitch with a cradle that holds the drive, so it's safer to move around site and easier to line up with augers and piles.
  • Swing control: a double pin hitch with dampening that steadies the drive fore and aft, for better control of the auger. It's offered on our drives up to the PD22.

For piling with a skid steer, the telescopic piling extension adds reach, with 3.5 to 4 m of ground clearance.

4. Already have a drive?

Hitches and frames are also sold on their own, to fit a drive you already own. Check the Frames and hitches range, or tell us your drive model and machine and we'll match it.

5. What we need from you

Excavator hitches are made to suit your machine's pins. We'll ask for your machine make, model and weight, and whether it has a quick hitch. We'll also need a few measurements taken from your bucket: the distance between pin centres, both pin diameters, and the width between the ears at each pin. A single pin hitch needs fewer. Also tell us your coupler type, flush-face or ISO. It doesn't change the code, but it's needed on the order.
